Hawthorn is an inner suburb, east of the Melbourne CBD. There are many reasons why Hawthorn is a popular area to live in. It is one of the city’s most affluent suburbs and boasts grand estates such as Grace Park and St James, elaborate Victorian mansions and fantastic education institutions like Scotch College.
The area was settled in in the 1830’s then went through subdivision in the 1840’s. It didn’t experience much growth until the 1880’s land boom, following the Gold Rush era. The remnants of this period can be seen in the elaborate architecture of the area.
Due to the diverse population there are many restaurants, cafes, shops and activities in Hawthorn. It is a bustling community of families and Swinburne university students. This gives the suburb an inner-city vibe, like that of Fitzroy. It’s an area that has a distinct personality, an interesting history and busy streets of people enjoying food, art galleries and shopping.
We created a landmark four-bedroom residence in Hawthorn that brings a modern twist to the area. The property is a luxury family home that has sharp lines, large windows and picturesque Rick Eckersley designed gardens. The lounge opens to a stunning outdoor area, creating seamless indoor and outdoor flow. The home is made for entertaining with an expansive outdoor pool and dedicated trampoline deck for the children.
